Nestled on a quiet street in Kyoto lies Kinse Inn. The centuries old building has seen several lifetimes: first as an ageya where geisha entertained at dinner parties and banquets, then as a ryokan providing guests with traditional food and lodging. It reopened in 2012 with a cafe on the main floor and a private guest suite on the second floor. Guests can enjoy morning coffee, ikebana workshops, or the occasional live event.

Hawaii is one of my favorite places. Some years back I was fortunate to have the opportunity to stay in a friend’s home on Windward Oahu. It was a dream come true- the chance to experience “old Hawaii”…

Movies are magical. They give the viewer a unique experience. In addition to my love of film, I love single screen theaters. Once commonplace, these gems are vanishing. I began photographing theaters thanks to a serendipitous encounter late one rainy night.
